According to Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken, there was a shooting inside a mall on Saturday afternoon in Ocala, Florida, leaving one guy dead and one lady injured.
Balken stated that numerous rounds fired inside the Paddock Mall resulted in 911 calls being made to the police. He said that because the caller described a situation involving a “active shooter,” there was a significant police presence in response.
“Officers entered the mall right away and determined that there was no active shooter situation,” according to Balken.

Instead, according to Balken, police described the shooting incident as a targeted act of violence.
The chief verified that a single adult male victim with gunshot wounds was discovered dead inside the mall. Police subsequently recognised him as 40-year-old David Nathaniel Barron.
Balken reported that a woman sustained a leg gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital, he said, and it is anticipated that she will live.
According to Balken, police were still looking for the culprit on Saturday night. He was described as a Black man with black trousers, a black hoodie and a black mask covering his face.
According to an updated Facebook post from the Ocala Police Department, residents can now access their cars in the parking lot while the mall is still closed.
18-year-old Syriah Williams said that she was at the mall shopping with her mother when the shooting took place. In a message, she stated, “We heard one shot, then there was a pause, then three more shots rang out and chaos erupted.” Williams claimed that workers at the mall told everyone to run when they unlocked the rear storage space.
According to her, Williams went past the storage room and down a hallway that led to the back exit.
After the shooting on Saturday night, WPG, the proprietors of the Paddock Mall, released the following statement:
We find this incident to be really sad. We are thinking of everyone who is involved. The security of our customers, partners, and staff comes first. While the Ocala Police Department looks into this occurrence, we are collaborating closely with them.
