Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state, tweeted on Wednesday with the hashtag “#HillaryBarbie.”
Oscars.org reports that Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach’s 2023 film “Barbie” is nominated for an Oscar in the writing category for an adapted screenplay. However, Gerwig, who also served as the film’s director, did not receive an Oscar nomination for directing.
Furthermore, even though Margot Robbie and other producers are listed in the film’s best picture nomination, Robbie—who also acted in it—is not among the nominees for actress in a leading role.
CNN reports that Ryan Gosling, who received a nomination for his supporting performance in the film, declared in a statement that “Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie are the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.” It would be an understatement to say that he was disappointed that they were not nominated in their respective categories, he said.
Clinton sent a message to the two women, entering the pop culture fray. “Margot & Greta, Millions of fans adore you, even though it can be painful to win at the box office but not win the gold. Both of you are far more than Kenough. #HillaryBarbie “On Twitter, Clinton said.
In response to Clinton’s post, Candace Owens wrote, “This is the exact reason why everyone despises feminism.” A group of extremely well-off and progressive women are in tears over the fact that the actress who portrayed Barbie isn’t up for best actress in an Oscar contest. This is today’s predicament for feminists.” Owens stated of Clinton in a different post, “I really wish I could not vote for you again.”
