According to police, an alleged transgender suspect killed his mother by stabbing her to death at her New York City home and threw her dog off the eleventh floor to its death.
In relation to the stabbing death of Donna Hyman, 58, Andre Eugene, 36, was reportedly charged with murder, aggravated cruelty to animals, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Eugene reportedly reported to the police that on January 19, at around seven o’clock in the evening, he got into a fight with his mother over her small poodle, Gigi.
According to reports, Hyman’s sister alerted authorities, and Gigi was found close to the apartment building’s entrance. It was believed that the dead poodle, which had nine stab wounds, had been thrown off the Hyman’s eleventh-floor balcony.
According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, officers discovered Hyman’s body in the apartment with 58 stab wounds, 26 of which were to the head, and covered in blood.
When police arrived at the apartment, Eugene, according to the police, was bloodied and naked.
Despite having more than 50 stab wounds that he claimed were self-inflicted, Eugene allegedly told police that his mother had committed suicide.
“My mom passed away. Eugene allegedly reported to the police that she had committed suicide.
But Eugene also said that, following what he said to be an attack, he stabbed the little dog, and the mother then stabbed Eugene back.
Eugene supposedly suffered multiple “shallow” stab wounds on his chest in addition to a dog bite on his thigh.
They brought Eugene to Brookdale Hospital.
According to Kenny, investigators believe Eugene self-inflicted his stab wounds.
These are known as hesitation wounds. According to the New York Post, Kenny stated, “We think it was self-inflicted.”
The son and mother had reportedly argued in the past over the dog’s constant barking, according to a neighbor.
According to WPIX, “Police said the suspect was changing into a woman. He is employed by a Brooklyn school as a paraprofessional.”
Eugene was said to have no past criminal history.
