AMAZON INDIA HEAD, MANISH TIWARY, RESIGNS AMID FIERCE COMPETITION

Bengaluru, India – In a surprise move, Manish Tiwary, the head of Amazon India, has resigned after eight years with the company. Tiwary will remain with Amazon until October to ensure a smooth transition.The resignation comes amid intense competition in India’s e-commerce market, with Amazon India facing challenges from rivals like Flipkart, Meesho, and quick-commerce players such as Blinkit, Swiggy’s Instamart, and Zepto.Despite the challenges, Amazon has emphasized its commitment to the Indian market, describing it as “an important priority”. The company has invested heavily in India, with plans to expand its presence in the country.

Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President for India and Emerging Markets, will guide Amazon India’s team during this transition period. Agarwal has been instrumental in shaping Amazon’s strategy in India and is expected to provide continuity and stability to the business.
