A $83 million defamation award will be spent by E Jean Carroll on “something Donald Trump hates.”

E Jean Carroll claims she will use a portion of the $83.3 million (£65 million) she won in her defamation lawsuit against former US President Donald Trump for an item he detests.

She claimed that although she had been “terrified” to appear before Mr. Trump in court, her fear subsided as soon as she saw him.

Before the trial, a judge declared that Mr. Trump had defamed her by calling the allegation of sexual assault against him untrue.

He was found guilty of sexually abusing Ms. Carroll in the 1990s last year. Jurors denied her allegation of rape.

Trump, who has declared the case’s verdict to be “absolutely ridiculous,” has vowed to file an appeal.

“I’d like to give the money to something Donald Trump hates,” 80-year-old Ms. Carroll said to ABC News on Monday.

“My intention is to cause him pain if I donate money to certain causes.”

The money could be used to create a “fund for the women who have been sexually assaulted by Donald Trump,” according to the former magazine columnist.

The former president has been accused of sexual assault, harassment, and rape by numerous women going back to the 1970s. He refutes any misconduct.

In the 1990s, Ms. Carroll claimed that Mr. Trump had pushed himself on her when she was in a dressing room at the upscale Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan.

In the weeks preceding the trial, the writer, who conducted the interview on Monday while seated next to her attorney, Roberta Kaplan, said she had trouble eating or sleeping.

However, she claimed that when she saw him in court, her anxiety vanished.

“I took a peek,” she remarked. “It seemed as though he was nothing at all, like an emperor without any clothes,” the person said.

Following the announcement of their decision to award $18.3 million in compensatory damages and $65 million in punitive damages, Ms. Carroll told ABC that some of the jurors grinned at her as they left the courtroom.

“They met my eyes for the first time, and it made me cry,” the woman remarked.

Mr. Trump, 77, is required to pay Ms. Carroll while an appeal is pending, according to her attorney.

According to Ms. Kaplan, Mr. Trump would either need to obtain a bond, which would spare him from having to pay the entire $83.3 million upfront.

However, it would also necessitate an interest-bearing bank loan for a sizeable amount.

Or, Mr. Trump could just give the court an $83.3 million deposit.

He deposited the entire amount after being ordered to pay $5.5 million for making multiple defamatory remarks about Ms. Carroll in the previous year.

Ms. Kaplan stated that Ms. Carroll can “start collecting right away” if he doesn’t do either of these things, and she was “confident” he would pay in the end.
