According to Michigan police, a couple who possesses child pornography could spend 20 years in prison.

jail time in the event of a conviction.

William Nicholas Horner, 43, and Stacey Jean Horner, 42, were taken into custody following an investigation, according to a press release from the Michigan State Police. The investigation revealed that the two had allegedly viewed internet files containing sexually abusive material for children.

The pair was accused of two counts of aggravated possession of child sexual abuse material and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

The couple’s Laurium home was searched by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and digital evidence was seized.

A $100,000 bond was given to each of them. They are expected to appear for a probable cause conference on February 2 after being arraigned at the 97th District Court on Friday.

A 10-year prison sentence is possible for both the counts of criminal computer use and the counts of possessing child pornography.

According to the MSP Computer Crimes Unit, parents ought to have conversations with their kids about cyber predators. According to experts, parents should keep an eye on their children’s computer usage to make sure they aren’t communicating with predators or being duped into meeting them in person.

An alleged predator from Harlem, New York, allegedly asked a 10-year-old girl he met online to meet him and then sexually assaulted her. The NYPD requested the public’s assistance in identifying a potential suspect after they were able to obtain surveillance footage of him.

Det. Sgt. Nichole Dyson of Michigan’s computer crimes said, “Parents need to take responsibility for educating their children and monitoring what their kids are doing.” “We have no problem educating you so you can educate your children. There are safeguards on social media apps if you’re unaware of them.”

Laurium is a tiny community in the state’s upper peninsula with 2,000 residents.
