Ayushmann Khurrana Turns Down Role in Sunny Deol’s Border 2

Mumbai, August 7, 2024: Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly turned down a role in the upcoming film Border 2, citing uncertainty about his positioning in the ensemble drama led by Sunny Deol.
According to sources, Ayushmann was in talks to play a soldier in the sequel, but after months of negotiations, he decided to let go of the opportunity due to Sunny Deol’s “towering” presence in the film.
“Ayushmann was keen on collaborating with the makers, but he felt unsure of his positioning in an ensemble led by Sunny Deol, a towering star in his own right,” a source revealed.

The film, directed by Anurag Singh, is expected to go on floors by November and may star Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh alongside Sunny Deol.
Border 2 is the sequel to the 1997 film Border, which was set during the India-Pakistan war of 1971 and starred Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, and Akshaye Khanna.
Sunny Deol had announced the sequel recently, sharing an announcement video on Instagram, where he said, “27 saal pehle ek fauji ne vada kiya tha ki vo vapas aayega. Ussi vaade ko poora karne, Hindustan ki mitti ko apna salaam kehne, aa raha hai (27 years ago, a soldier made a promise that he would return. To fulfill that promise, to salute the soil of India, he is coming).”
The news of Ayushmann’s exit from the project has left fans disappointed, but they are eagerly waiting to see Sunny Deol and Diljit Dosanjh come together on screen.
