Dominic West, star of Crown, says he can appreciate the show’s detractors.

In the latter two seasons, Dominic West portrayed Prince Charles, while Elizabeth Debicki portrayed Princess Diana.

The Crown’s Dominic West has said that he can appreciate the criticism leveled at the way the show portrays royal life.

The events leading up to Princess Diana’s passing were dramatized in the sixth and final season of the popular Netflix series.

In the previous two seasons, West portrayed Prince Charles. He stated, “I can understand why people think this is too close to the actual events and that the grief is still so real.”

Prior to accepting the position, he said he “did think a lot about that”. “I still do.”

West admitted to convincing himself that the Royal Family was “fair game” on BBC Radio 5 Live, although he was still “uncomfortable” with the notion.

The marriage of Charles and Camilla is featured in the sixth season.

The program has come under increasing fire in recent years for artistically representing delicate occasions and private royal life.

It “borders on the exploitative,” according to a Guardian review from last month, while the Telegraph described it as “intrusive and clumsy.”

As stated by the Telegraph, “intruding upon the worst moment of someone’s life for the purpose of entertainment” was the equivalent of portraying Prince Harry’s fictitious response upon learning of his mother’s passing.

The first half of the last season was commended by The Times’ TV critic, even though it was “obviously mining tragedy for ratings.”

The Queen’s pal says The Crown “makes me so angry”; the star of The Crown talks about how shocked she was when the Queen passed away; the show’s final season divides critics

“I understand why people feel that way, and I have convinced myself that the Royal Family is public property and therefore fair game,” Kanye West stated in an interview with Nihal Arthanayake of 5 Live. However, the idea of anyone being fair game or having their private life made public still makes me uneasy.”

Nonetheless, the actor stated that he trusted writer Peter Morgan since “he’s a proven great dramatist so that trust was easy to give”.

West admitted to having mixed feelings about the character, telling 5 Live, “Someone like me can’t turn down a part like Charles.” He’s really fascinating. He’s really nuanced.

“I did agonise for a while about it, but my wife tells me the result was always inevitable.”

The fact that he had to “forgo the British Empire Medal that I might have got for services to acting” was one of the drawbacks, he added in jest.

Critics gave the last season, which also features Prince William’s meeting with Kate Middleton and Princess Margaret’s passing, largely unfavorable reviews.

The season received two-star reviews from The Independent and The Telegraph, with the latter stating that “a once fine drama abdicates with a miserable whimper”.
