Haley loses to Trump in New Hampshire Republican presidential contest

In the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary, former President Donald Trump prevailed over Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations during a portion of Trump’s White House tenure.

Even though Governor Chris Sununu of New Hampshire had backed Haley, surveys were showing that Trump was leading going into the Granite State race.

In the primaries, voters who had not stated their intentions could also cast ballots. On the website of the New Hampshire secretary of state, it states that “an undeclared voter may vote in a state primary or a presidential primary.” “You will be required to choose either a Democratic or Republican ballot when you go to vote.”

Following his triumph in last week’s Iowa Republican presidential caucuses, Trump won in New Hampshire.

Vivek Ramaswamy quickly withdrew from the race and endorsed Trump following his fourth-place finish in Iowa. After finishing far behind Trump in Iowa, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared on Sunday that he was suspending his candidacy and supporting the outgoing president. Asa Hutchinson, the former governor of Arkansas who left the race after receiving very few votes in the Hawkeye State, has endorsed Haley.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), who first backed Trump last year before abandoning it, is a Republican senator from South Carolina. During her tenure as governor of South Carolina, more than ten years ago, Haley nominated Scott to the U.S. Senate.

On Tuesday, New Hampshire hosted an unofficial Democratic presidential primary.

Co-chairs of the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee Minyon Moore and James Roosevelt Jr. wrote to Raymond Buckley, the chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, earlier this month stating that “January 23rd is a non-binding presidential preference event and is meaningless and the NHDP and presidential candidates should take all steps possible not to participate.” “No delegates or alternates shall be apportioned based on the results of the January 23, 2024 event.”

Voters in New Hampshire had the option to write in President Joe Biden even though he was not listed on the Democratic presidential primary ballot.
