HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING EXPECTED NATIONWIDE: NDMA

Islamabad, Pakistan – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall and flash flooding in various parts of the country from July 27 to August 4.

According to the NDMA, monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are expected to bring heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of the country’s river systems, leading to flash flooding in the northeastern parts of Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and upper KP.

Urban flooding is also expected in parts of Punjab, including Lahore, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi/Islamabad, as well as in southern Sindh, including Hyderabad, Jamshoro, and Karachi.

The NDMA has advised people to avoid flood waters, find safe locations away from flood-prone areas, and avoid crossing bridges if water is flowing rapidly.
