Hungary’s Opposition to Ukraine’s EU Membership Sparks Controversy and Global Debate

Hungary’s patriot Top state leader Viktor Orban said Friday that the European Association should not begin participation chats with Ukraine, Reuters detailed, refering to a meeting with state radio.

Orban, frequently a thistle in the side of his country’s EU partners, purportedly said the “unmistakable Hungarian position” is to emphatically go against EU enrollment chats with Ukraine.

EU pioneers are booked to choose in mid-December whether to acknowledge a proposal from the European Commission, the EU’s leader arm, to welcome Kyiv to start enrollment talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday invited the proposal as a “noteworthy stage.”

A choice to begin the enrollment talks requires unanimity of the coalition’s 27 individuals.
