If an agreement is not reached, a strike is imminent on November 10, with 35,000 employees from 18 different casinos set to participate.

According to a news release issued on Thursday, the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and the Bartenders Union Local 165 will go on strike on November 10 at 5 a.m. PT if a contract is not reached by then.

According to the release, if a five-year contract could not be reached, thirty-five thousand workers would strike at eighteen casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Culinary Union’s secretary-treasurer, Ted Pappageorge, released a statement saying, “A month ago, workers voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike and we have continued negotiating in good faith, but unfortunately companies haven’t made enough movement in negotiations.” “Workers deserve record contracts, especially after these giant corporations are enjoying their record profits. Their current proposal is historic, but it’s not enough.”

A previous news release stated that among other things, the unions are demanding increased pay, a reduction in workload and quotas, and the provision of safety protections.

According to the unions at the time, members voted 95% in favor of authorizing a strike in Las Vegas in September.

A press release from the unions at the time stated that 53,000 workers in Las Vegas and Reno, who are collectively represented by the two unions, were eligible to vote in September’s strike authorization. They claimed that about 40,000 members were still employed under an earlier-expiry contract.
