PARIS 2024 OLYMPICS: SECURITY TAKES CENTER STAGE

As the world prepares for the Paris 2024 Olympics, security concerns take center stage.
With millions of visitors and thousands of athletes expected to attend, organizers are
leaving no stone unturned to ensure a safe and secure event.
According to officials, 35,000 police and 10,000 soldiers will be deployed daily, with an
additional 20,000 private security personnel on hand. Strictly controlled zones and access
passes will also be implemented to prevent unauthorized entry.

The use of AI-driven video analysis will further bolster security efforts, allowing authorities
to monitor and respond to potential threats in real-time.
We try to anticipate all situations, said Nicolas Nordman, Deputy Paris Mayor in charge of
security. “We have carried out exercises, numerous simulations of crises, events that are
sometimes quite extraordinary, where everyone, for a whole day, tries to anticipate and
then respond.”
Despite these efforts, the threat of terrorism and unrest remains a concern. France has
experienced terrorist attacks in the past, and current domestic tensions have raised fears
of potential disruptions.
To address these concerns, authorities have banned nearly 4,000 people from attending
events, including members of the extreme left and right, radical Islamists, and suspected
radical Islamists.
The Opening Ceremony, set to take place on July 26, will have a reduced attendance due to
safety concerns. The event, which will be held alongside the banks of the River Seine, is
expected to draw 104,000 people, with an additional 220,000 watching from raised
roadways along a six-kilometer stretch of the river.
Organizers are confident in their ability to prevent attacks and ensure safety, but the
situation remains fluid. As the world watches, one thing is clear: security will be paramount
at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
