Police in Texas claim that the bodies of a missing pregnant teen and her boyfriend may have been discovered in a car with gunshot wounds.

According to authorities, on Wednesday, two bodies discovered inside a car belonged to a nine-month pregnant Texas teen who went missing and her boyfriend. Both bodies bore gunshot wounds.

Chief of San Antonio Police William McManus had earlier on Tuesday told reporters that, although he was unable to confirm the names, officials suspect the bodies belong to 18-year-old Savannah Soto and her boyfriend. Savannah Soto was last seen on December 22.

The medical examiner’s office later identified one of the dead as 22-year-old Matthew Guerra. According to family members, Soto dated Guerra, which CNN station KSAT reported.

According to CNN, police are still awaiting the female victim’s identity from the medical examiner.

According to a police statement released on Wednesday, “the medical examiner’s office will conduct a death investigation to determine cause of death.” “This investigation is still being conducted.”

According to San Antonio Police Lt. Michelle Ramos, the case has been classified as a “Capital Murder due to the death of an unborn child,” CNN reported on Wednesday.

Police claimed in a previous statement that the dead were discovered in a car that was parked next to an apartment building.

According to McManus, police believe the victims have been there for “possibly three or four days,” and the crime scene is “very, very perplexing.”

According to the Leon Valley Police Department, Soto skipped a crucial medical appointment and her family reported her missing when she was past her due date.

Soto was last seen on Friday in the Leon Valley area, near the 6000 block of Grissom Road, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety notice. The alert’s vehicle description was a grey Kia Optima.

According to a media release from the Leon Valley Police Department, “Chief William McManus has issued a statement announcing they believe the body of missing Savannah Soto has been found.” Since the incident scene is inside the City of San Antonio, San Antonio police “will be taking over the investigation.”
