Samsung to Launch Galaxy AI in China, Partners with Local Tech Firms

Samsung is set to launch its Galaxy AI in China, with the goal of satisfying Chinese
consumers and contributing to the company’s recovery in the market. While details are
scarce, Samsung will partner with local tech and internet companies, such as Baidu, to
navigate China’s strict regulations and competitive market.
Foreign firms face significant challenges in launching AI features in China due to strict
regulations and control over the internet landscape. Apple, for example, has yet to
announce a launch date for its Apple Intelligence AI suite in China.


Samsung’s strategy in China focuses on introducing premium devices and expanding
distribution and retail sales channels. Despite intense competition, the company is making
progress step by step in creating products and features that will appeal to Chinese
consumers.
Francisco Jeronimo, VP for devices research at IDC, notes that Samsung’s AI features may
not be enough to sway Chinese consumers away from local brands. Samsung’s brand
awareness in China is low, and Chinese players are also introducing rival applications.
Samsung’s president, TM Roh, admitted that competition in China’s smartphone market is
“more heated than anywhere else.” However, the company remains committed to creating
products and features that will satisfy Chinese consumers.
Samsung Develops Galaxy AI for Chines
Samsung is developing its Galaxy AI suite specifically for the Chinese market, where the
company has struggled to gain traction in recent years. With a market share of less than
1%, Samsung hopes that AI features will attract Chinese users and help the company
regain ground against local players like Huawei.

Samsung is counting on AI to be a key differentiator in the Chinese market, where device
makers are trying to drive people to upgrade to premium handsets. By developing Galaxy AI
specifically for China, Samsung aims to create a competitive advantage and attract
