The entertainment fraternity wept over the passing of Shannen Doherty, so well known to fans for her portrayal of Prudence Halliwell from the hit TV show Charmed. Shannen passed away at age 53 after a long, hard, heroic struggle with cancer that took her life on Saturday, July 13th, confirmed her longtime publicist.
Following the announcement, tributes poured in from Doherty’s former co-stars and colleagues from Charmed. Rose McGowan paid tribute to Doherty on Instagram, and although she joined Charmed after Doherty had left, her words proved this point. She wrote of Doherty as a passionate lady and described her indomitable spirit thus: “Shannen was passion. This woman fought to live.”
Another Charmed co-star, Alyssa Milano, shared that while they had a complicated history, she was deeply respectful of Doherty’s talent and the mark she left on so many people. Milano sent her condolences to all the people who loved Shannen and realized that an empty space is left behind her.
For star Dorian Gregory from Charmed, she would salute her strength and kindness with the capacity to supremely touch the lives around her. Brian Krause, who played Doherty’s onscreen love interest Leo Wyatt, complimented that she had taught him courage and determination, which is just about the high regard in which he held the impact of her influence on his life.
