Sister shot dead in Florida over dispute over Christmas presents

Following a fight over Christmas presents that resulted in their sister being shot and dying, two teenage brothers were taken into custody.

According to the Florida sheriff’s office, the 23-year-old was shot in the chest by her adolescent brother as she was carrying her 10-month-old kid.

The older sibling then pulled out his own gun and shot the boy, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

It was also mentioned that the shooting happened after a dispute over who was receiving more gifts.

Reporters were informed by Sheriff Bob Gualtieri that the 15-year-old male fled the scene and threw his gun away.

According to authorities, the 14-year-old younger brother was brought to the hospital in a stable condition and will be placed under arrest upon his release.

Sheriff Gualtieri said that after reviewing the case, local prosecutors will choose whether to prosecute him with killing his sister as an adult.

Sheriff Gualtieri stated that once the woman was brought to a hospital, she was declared dead.

He clarified that the mother of two had internal bleeding and was having trouble breathing, but the infant within the carrier remained unharmed.

After being taken into custody, the 15-year-old was accused of tampering with evidence and attempting first-degree murder.
