Suryakumar Yadav’s Appointment as India’s T20I Captain

Mumbai, July 26 – In a surprise move, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Suryakumar Yadav as the new captain of the Indian T20 team.

Yadav, who has been in impressive form in recent times, will take over the reins from Rohit Sharma, who has been leading the team since 2021.

The 32-year-old Yadav has been a consistent performer for India in the T20 format, scoring over 1,000 runs at a strike rate of 175. He has also been a key player for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Suryakumar Yadav is one of the most talented players in the country, and we believe he has the leadership qualities to take the team forward,” said BCCI President, Roger Binny.

Yadav’s appointment comes ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Australia later this year.

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead the team,” said Yadav. “I will do my best to ensure that we perform well and make the country proud.”

The BCCI has also announced a new coaching staff, with former Indian cricketer, Ashish Nehra, being appointed as the team’s coach.

The new leadership team will have their first assignment when India takes on Australia in a three-match T20 series next month.
