Seven-time soca ruler, Machel Montano will raise a ruckus around town rather than the stage at the following year’s Trinidad Fair.
The ‘Lord of Soca’ declared that during Festival 2024, he will be distracted with composing the postulation for his Lord’s of Expressions.
The 49-year-old who is in his second year at the College of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), is finishing his graduate degree in Amusement park Studies.
As he got the keys to the City of San Fernando at Skinner Park on Sunday, December 10, the ‘Like Yuh Self’ artist said he made the declaration last year, yet “I don’t think it enlisted”.
“This is my subsequent year, I’m composing my proposition. This is my last year. The work is exceptionally weighty,” he said.
Montano accentuated that the proposition was serious as it required concentrating on the historical backdrop of calypso, steelband and mas, scholastic composition, history and sociology.
“I’m doing all of this since I need to set an establishment for a higher degree of Machel Montanos who are coming.”
