More than 1.8 million RAV4 vehicles are being recalled by Toyota, according to a report by Ramishah Maruf on CNN.

CNN, New York — Toyota said on Wednesday that it was recalling over 1.8 million RAV4 vehicles.

It is specifically recalling a number of cars from the 2013–2018 model years.

According to a statement from Toyota, there is a fire risk associated with some replacement batteries. In the event that the SUV makes a sudden turn, some of the replacement batteries may shake loose and catch fire because they aren’t the right size.

“There are variations in the top dimensions of 12-volt replacement batteries that fit the subject vehicles. Toyota warned that if a small-top battery is replaced and the hold-down clamp is not tightened properly, the battery may move when the car is driven aggressively. “A short circuit could occur if the positive battery terminal comes into contact with the hold-down clamp due to movement.”

Toyota stated that it is developing a fix that would allow owners to replace the positive terminal cover, battery tray, and hold-down clamp at no additional expense. In December, they will get notification.

According to Toyota, owners of impacted cars can check for recalls by entering their license plate number or vehicle information number on the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Toyota.
